What 3/4 (waltz time) means
Three beats per bar; the first beat is heavy. Listen to Norwegian Wood, Take It to the Limit, or My Favorite Things — each bar is ONE-two-three, then loops. The accent on beat 1 is your anchor; lose it and the groove collapses.
How this builds on the prior lessons
Pulse-finding taught you the steady tick. 2/4 vs 4/4 taught you to hear groups of 2 vs 4. This lesson is the third grouping — feeling beats in 3 without accidentally rounding up to 4. Higher tiers strip the audio progressively: T3+ removes beats 2-3 audio, T5 removes everything after the count-in. By T5, the only thing keeping you on time is your own internal pulse.
Common misconception
“If I just tap when I hear a click, I’m doing it right.” Click-following is pulse-finding, not 3/4 perception. The audit-tier ramp tests for the real skill: at T3+ you only hear beat 1 of each bar (4 clicks over 12 beats); you have to fill in beats 2 and 3 yourself. At T5 the audio cuts after the count-in entirely.
